Congratulations! You’ve finally ordered and received your Exerpeutic 400XL Folding Recumbent Bike! You are going to thoroughly enjoy it, but first, you have to put it together.

Luckily for you, this is one of the easiest recumbent bikes to assemble. Most of the time, though, people can do it themselves in just a couple of hours. But if you’re not that good at assembling things, or if you can’t lift more than about 30lbs or so, then you may need to have someone help you.

5 Steps to Assemble the Exerpeutic 400XL Folding Recumbent Bike

What to do First?

Before you get started with the assembly, you need to make sure that you have all the components that you need. Get out the instruction manual, look at the parts list, and compare it to what you actually have in the box.

If you don’t have a particular piece, then you’ll need to contact the manufacturer or the place you ordered it from to get a replacement. Most of the time you won’t have to deal with that issue, but you definitely don’t want to spend a lot of time assembling before you realize you are missing a key component.

Since you’ve got the instruction manual out, you might as well see if there are any tools that you need that are not included. Sometimes you will have to supply your ownscrewdriver, wrench, socket orother handheld tools. Once you’ve confirmed that you have everything you need, then you’re ready to begin assembling your new recumbent bike!

5 Steps to Assemble Exerpeutic 400XL Recumbent Bike

OK, Let's get started!

Step 1

Remove the safety pin from the main component of your bike to open it up. Remove the nut caps from the back stabilizer bar, install the nuts to the main component bars and tighten with a wrench. Use the same steps on the front stabilizer bar.

Step 2

Insert the computeronto the frame by removing the safety pin from the computer bracket, move it one slot over and replace the safety pin.

Take the computer itself and remove the four bolts that came pre-assembled on it. Place the computer on the computer bracket and tighten the bolts with the supplied wrench to ensure that it is secure on the bracket.

Then grab wire “A” and plug it into the wire that is coming out of the back of the computer. Then grab wire 94 and plug it into the back of the computer where it says “pulse”.

Step 3

Align the seat postholeswith the holes on the back of the seat and fasten them together using the bolts supplied with the hardware pack. Secure the bolts with the supplied wrench to make sure they are tight.

Connect the seat to the main component by sliding the male end of the seat to the female end of the main component. Set the seat to the desired height and tighten it using the large knob that’s supplied.

Step 4

Align the holes on the backrest with the holes on the backrest support frame and tighten the bolts with the supplied wrench. Remove the bolts from the backrest frame and align the holes from the backrest frame with the holes on the back of the seat post. Connect them by using the bolt, washerand nut. Follow the same steps for both holes and tighten them with a wrench.

For the handlebars, align the holes with the ones on the backrest support frame, insert the bolts to connect them, and secure with the wrench. Finally, reconnect the two wires under the seat.

Step 5

To install the foot pedals, be sure that you are using the correct pedal for the correct side of the bike by looking for the letter “L” for “Left” and “R” for “Right”. Use the wrench to tighten the nuts and bolts on one pedal to secure it to the bike.

Once you have the pedal secured, simply clip on the pedal straps by snapping it into place onto the pedal. Follow the same assembly steps for the other pedal.

As long as you follow these simple steps, you will be riding your Exerpeutic 400XL Recumbent Bikein no time! When you have the bike completely assembled, try riding it slowly to make sure that it is sturdy. If something doesn’t feel sturdy and secure, then go back and tighten some of the nuts.

Since the bike is lightweight, the assembly is much easier than most other recumbent bikes, so you can start exercising shortly after you take it out of the box!
